Privacy Policy - Browser Extension

Last updated: August 22, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how the SlashClean Browser Extension ("Extension", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our browser extension for Chrome.

Important Disclaimer

SlashClean Browser Extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Slack Technologies, Inc. Slack is a trademark of Slack Technologies, Inc. This extension is an independent third-party tool.

Privacy First Approach

The SlashClean Browser Extension is designed with privacy as a core principle. The extension runs entirely locally in your browser and does not collect, transmit, or store any of your Slack data outside of your own browser.

1. How the Extension Works

The SlashClean Browser Extension operates entirely within your browser environment:

  • Local Operation: All extension functionality runs locally in your browser
  • Session-Based Access: Uses your existing Slack session tokens only within your browser to authenticate requests to Slack's servers
  • No External Servers: The extension does not communicate with SlashClean servers or any third-party servers for Slack data processing
  • Direct API Calls: All Slack API requests are made directly from your browser to Slack's official API endpoints

2. Token Handling and Authentication

Token Security

The extension uses your existing Slack session tokens only within your browser to authenticate requests to Slack's servers. These tokens are never transmitted to SlashClean or any third-party servers, and never leave your browser.

  • • Tokens remain in your browser's secure environment
  • • No token extraction or external transmission
  • • Uses standard browser security mechanisms
  • • Tokens are managed by your existing Slack session

3. Data Collection and Usage

What We DO NOT Collect

The extension does not collect, access, store, or transmit:

  • • Your Slack messages or message content
  • • Your Slack workspace data
  • • Your Slack authentication tokens or credentials
  • • Your personal information from Slack
  • • Any files, images, or attachments from your Slack workspace
  • • Browsing history or activity outside of the extension
  • • Any data from your computer or browser beyond what's necessary for basic extension functionality

License Verification Only

The only external communication performed by the extension is license verification with Gumroad:

  • Purpose: To verify that you have a valid license to use the extension
  • Data Transmitted: Only your license key (provided by you after purchase)
  • No Slack Data: No Slack messages, tokens, or workspace data is ever transmitted during license verification
  • Secure Connection: License verification uses HTTPS encryption
  • Functionality Limitation: If a valid license key is not provided, the extension will not perform bulk deletion actions. No Slack data is accessible outside of this limitation.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions to function:

Host Access

Limited to slack.com domains to interact with Slack. This allows the extension to work only on Slack websites.

Storage

To store your license key and settings locally in your browser. No data is transmitted externally.

Scripting & Active Tab

To inject code only into Slack pages, enabling local functionality for bulk message deletion.

5. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only

The extension stores minimal data locally in your browser:

  • License Key: Your Gumroad license key for activation
  • Settings: Your extension preferences and configuration
  • No Slack Data: No messages, workspace data, or personal information is stored

All stored data remains local to your browser and is never transmitted to external servers.

6. Third-Party Services

Gumroad License Verification

The extension communicates with Gumroad only for license verification:

  • Service: Gumroad (gumroad.com) for license verification
  • Data Shared: Only your license key
  • Purpose: To verify your purchase and enable extension functionality
  • Privacy: Gumroad's privacy policy applies to this data: https://gumroad.com/privacy

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

  • Uninstall: Remove the extension at any time to delete all local data
  • Clear Storage: Reset extension settings through Chrome's extension management
  • License Management: Contact Gumroad support for license-related questions
  • No Account Required: The extension does not require creating any accounts with SlashClean

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
